I recently came across this app - Think Dirty (for iOS), similar to the resource available by the Environmental Working Group. It allows you to search the ingredients of each product (primarily beauty/cleaning products) and rates how toxic they are.
I figured most of the "big business" products would be riddled with chemicals but it was super eye opening to see how many mystery ingredients there were and even a break down of what the chemical can do to you if used.
I've since switched from Tresseme to Shea Moisture and changed my body wash and toothpaste.
I'm def not trying to be preachy here but it's worth taking a look to see what sorts of chemicals might be in your products. Just because it "works" doesn't mean you should use it. Any insight on this?
Edit: I just want to edit to say, everything in moderation of course, but one has to wonder is it worth it to later develop an illness? Or do we just live without even thinking about it? I'm conflicted because there is so much misinformation out there however I'm more inclined to use gentler products on my body if it indeed has come out that these products are not safe!
...And judging by the down votes it looks like see no evil, hear no evil. Oh well!
