Anyone in the UK working for a European firm or as a freelance contractor?

To those that are in the UK and working for a European firm, how do you get paid? Do you get paid as a sole trader? Create a limited company?

I've always worked for UK based firms and been on their payroll as a PAYE employee. However, I've seen various job vacancies at European based firms that offer remote work and they state that they would hire people as freelance contractors. Therefore from a financial salary point of view, I take it I can't just compare the salary offered vs. my current salary as I'd have to take into consideration tax consideration. I'm wondering how much complicated a structure would I need to create and how much hassle would it be to manage my own personal tax.
