For those that don't know who he is, he is the owner of Clancy's, Conway's Yard, Kings Cafe and Atlas. He is also the former owner of the Reardens Group, a group he left after divorcing the other owner, his estranged wife (who has her own issues that we won't get into here)
From today's RTE news article on COVID numbers, he is quoted:
"Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Claire Byrne, Paul Montgomery of Clancy's Bar in Cork said the Taoiseach is right to lay down the law because the sector will lose the privileges it has and the right to remain open if all businesses do not comply with the regulations.
Mr Montgomery said he has heard anecdotally that there are venues that are failing to comply with the public health measures and checking certificates and that situation has been ongoing since the summer."
Now, I have a personal relationship with Monty that goes back over a decade. He is a lier. He has been since I've met him. But the bare faced cheek of him to go on national radio and claim this when I met him only a month ago and he told me that checking for vaxx pass is "just theatre" and that his venues "won't turn anyone away". It's riled me up that he has the cheek to then claim that other venues are the problem.
He. Is. The. Problem.
