Papa Smurf is nature

Papa Smurf is the idealized expression of a nature spirit in psychedelic form, showing that nature provides medicine as is, and doesn't need to be meddled with, whereas Gargamel is the expression of human ego attempting to force control over the natural world. He wants the essence of the Smurfs so that he can exploit and abuse it. Smurfs are nature, Gargamel is ego. Smurfs are mushrooms and weed, Gargamel is meth and crack and pretty much all of big pharma.
