I doubt this post will get any traction, I don’t really care since I just wanted to type this out since I’ve never really told anyone. When I was like 12-13 I was staying up late during the summer, and this particular night I decided to have popcorn, idk why, just wanted some. Well, we had no microwave bags, so what’s a boy to do? Well what I did is I filled a bowl with popcorn kernels, put a plate on top of the bowl, and turned the microwave on. Well, for some reason the plate I chose had to be one of my mom’s favorite ceramic stoneware plates, artisan made and glazed, came in a set of 4 with beautiful artwork on them. Well, about halfway through my little experiment, I heard a very loud bang in my kitchen that legit sounded like a bomb going off, before finding that moms stoneware plate had exploded into about 20 pieces, with a particularly large chunk of plate smacking the back wall of the microwave, denting the inside. Now, my mom was asleep during this, and she’s always been a very light sleeper, she’s been known to wake up out of a full on snore simply because someone was walking outside her room a little too loud, so how she never woke up and came downstairs yelling after I had practically set off an IED in her kitchen, I still don’t understand. What I do understand is I quickly took all the shards of plate, and threw them in the woods behind my house, some archaeologist will probably discover them hundreds of years from now and send them to some museum. I don’t understand how she never noticed the missing plate after all these years, how she never woke up as it happened, or how she never noticed the very obvious dent in the back of the microwave. Maybe she knows what I did, but then again, I doubt she found the pieces of plate, and she never woke up after I caused one of her plates to explode, so idk what the truth is. I don’t really feel guilty about it or anything, just figured someone would find this funny
