Did Karl Marx Advocate for Genocide?
Post Body

I very recently became a communist. I definitely agree with a wealth of Marx's thought, though there is still quite a considerable amount of reading I have yet to do. However, in a debate with an acquaintance of mine I was absolutely perplexed by this quote from Marx Engles On Britain published in the People’s Paper of April 16, 1853:

"The classes and the races, too weak to master the new conditions of life, must give way."

(It's in the second to last paragraph)

I'm worried that this implies both Marx and Engles argued for genocide. Is there any other explanation? Did they perhaps have a different meaning for race? That does not appear to be the case, reading through the document. Were they talking about revolution in general? Even if that's the case I do not see how that could justify genocide. Does he not mean their death when he says "give way"?

These questions worry me. I hope someone has answers :/
