The Next Step in Human Evolution: How Aspies are Going to Change the World!

Post Body

This is not so much on collapse, but on how society may be evolving in ways to avoid it or, at least, soften it.

The human society can be described in terms of a "social holobiont" that changes and evolves all the time. A holobiont is an entity composed of various elements normally in symbiosis with each other. But, at times an unbalance develops, some elements of the holobiont become parasites of others, and the system must change and adapt to regain some balance.

In small social groups, as in the tribal societies where our ancestors lived, psychopaths (in short, psychos) may have played a useful role for the group. Their aggressive tendencies may have helped the tribe in war or in other occasions when the tribe needed to act fast and with all the members had to agree on some plan: migration, for instance.

But, with larger societies, the role of psychos changed from symbionts to parasites. No more just the local big men, they became god-kings, then absolute rulers who pretended not just obedience, but uniformity of thought. With the development of mass media, the psychos in charge found that they could get whatever they wanted by hurling at the rest of the people the monster of the year to hate,

It is possible that the growing number of people showing Asperger's syndrome ("Aspies") is a manifestation of society moving toward a certain degree of resistance to this kind of manipulation. A society where most people are aspies would be much less sensitive to propaganda.

Would that be enough to avoid the coming collapse? Difficult to say, but a more rational approach to how to manage this planet would help a lot. Surely, if we do nothing but run after the monster of the year, we are going to meet the true monster that will destroy us, the one called "The Seneca Cliff"

Live long and prosper, fellow aspies!

Gosh dude kinda overkill dontcha think? Have a little kindness, your response is as long as the post but yours reeks of academic chauvinism. "From a raving autodidact" implying autodidacticism is somehow a negative thing? Isn't that what this sub is about? Teaching ourselves and discussing what formal institutions refuse to acknowledge?

And then that whole LENGTHY self-indulgent paragraph straight out of a biology textbook. Wow you know the word ontogeny and can use a semicolon. This is legit some r/iamverysmart shit.

Maybe they used outdated or unscientific language, but you're gonna wear yourself out if you take it upon yourself to dismantle every colloquialism. Like people can't be parasitic to other people cus "intraspecies symbiosis cannot exist"? Wtf are you talking about? You know exactly what people mean when they say someone is parasitic lol.

This is just an idea some person had and wanted to share. This isn't scientific research up for peer review. Think about toning down the arrogance and aggression just a lil?

Have a nice day!

Pedantic! Lol you must be trolling.

Either way that's pretty funny Mr. "symbiosis refers to any period of obligate interspecies dependency during an organism's life cycle and the term does not specify the character of said dependency"
