Anyone out there advancing in TR and stagnant in bouldering?

Post Body

Hey everyone!

So I have been casually indoor climbing off and on (mostly off) for the past ten years. I got back into it recently and have been climbing at least three times/week since April. I have always struggled with bouldering but have gotten better at top rope climbing. I prefer TR after a scary fall from bouldering where I rolled both my ankles. I have been able to finish 5.10c while TR but struggle to complete anything last v1 when bouldering (v2 on a really, really good day lol). I’m a parent of two and the risk of bouldering generally just scares the crap out of me, especially after getting hurt recently. I really want to get better at bouldering but I cannot afford to nurse an injury while carting my four and six year old around everywhere lol. It’s honestly made me afraid to do it, i get so scared when I’m close to the top and have awful, awful imposter syndrome. So is this normal?? Is anyone out there super comfortable at TR and stagnant/terrified of bouldering? Lol

Will I continue to advance with TR if I just leave bouldering alone all together?
