Probably one of my most rewatched movies. Everything is just so on point.
Yes and............... no. See. Crashes are good. They represent, in some minuscule way, an opening up of opportunity for those in the right place at the right time and occasionally the assholes in the middle (such as the brokers actually making those shit-tier mortgages) actually have to maybe sell a cruise ship or two or even get an honest job.
What we're seeing now is the result of the government-banking complex effectively 'fixing' the reset mechanism so instead of the whole construct imploding in a spectacular conflagration money things just become infinitely more expensive to fund an infinite amount of rent seeking.
Don't fear the crash.
Fear the age in which the powers that be have found a way to prevent the crash indefinitely at everyone else's expense.

Margin Call is good but it's not crisp, I guess would be the best word. It doesn't crackle and pop. There's less energy and high-torque mania to it.
It's a bit like how Suits just doesn't have the same raw power as White Collar cause it meanders far more and never feels quite as smartly written. Not bad. Just nowhere near as brilliant.
