I (27f) have to get it off my chest -

I am so, so sick of all the pro-natal propaganda in media and culture and wherever I turn my eyes. So many women in my age group are getting married and flooding my feed with pictures of themselves pregnant and their husbands kissing their stomachs and up-closes of infants dressed in stupid baby fashion. And the ADS, oh my god. Diapers and working motherhood and family planning and post partum depression and toys and itā€™s driving me up the wall. Why do the algorithms do this to me?

I literally do not understand. Being incapacitated with pregnancy and a child could stunt my career achievements and growth for the rest of my life. And ruin my body. And mental health. And wallet. All for a kid that would puke on me, tell me they hate me, throw temper tantrums because they canā€™t get what they want, drive me sick with anxiety, and leech off my hard-earned money, while bystanders look on and judge me for not being a good enough mom or blaming me for the kidā€™s wrongdoings.

Yet thereā€™s THIS much pressure for a 27 year-old woman like me to have a kid? Are people stupid? Are they just that willfully ignorant to the costs of childbearing for women?

Like, give me one good, based reason for having a baby that doesnā€™t stem from the highly emotional desire to control the life of another being or gain ā€œgood wife and motherā€ status points.

Iā€™m so sick of it.
