I (27f) have to get it off my chest -
I am so, so sick of all the pro-natal propaganda in media and culture and wherever I turn my eyes. So many women in my age group are getting married and flooding my feed with pictures of themselves pregnant and their husbands kissing their stomachs and up-closes of infants dressed in stupid baby fashion. And the ADS, oh my god. Diapers and working motherhood and family planning and post partum depression and toys and itās driving me up the wall. Why do the algorithms do this to me?
I literally do not understand. Being incapacitated with pregnancy and a child could stunt my career achievements and growth for the rest of my life. And ruin my body. And mental health. And wallet. All for a kid that would puke on me, tell me they hate me, throw temper tantrums because they canāt get what they want, drive me sick with anxiety, and leech off my hard-earned money, while bystanders look on and judge me for not being a good enough mom or blaming me for the kidās wrongdoings.
Yet thereās THIS much pressure for a 27 year-old woman like me to have a kid? Are people stupid? Are they just that willfully ignorant to the costs of childbearing for women?
Like, give me one good, based reason for having a baby that doesnāt stem from the highly emotional desire to control the life of another being or gain āgood wife and motherā status points.
Iām so sick of it.
