Friends kid, 25, unmarried, no job for dead and two kids(his)

I have a friend who messaged me this week notifying me that her 25 year old kid is pregnant. The father is a deadbeat. He has custody of the two kids from a woman worse than him, no job and thinks universal income should be implemented!
I know my friend wanted more enthusiasm out of me, but I just saw a waste of a life and child being born to a family not prepared.
What is wrong with people? Birth control is free, and abortions are legal?!?
