Wearing a cage through airport security definitely seems to be a contentious subject here, and even I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. That said, I did want to know whether or not I could wear my new steel cage through metal detectors and such in other venues/events, so I wore it through airport security for a flight today. I was expecting and prepared to explain I was wearing body jewelry and to consent to a pat down or private screening, but to my surprise I wasn't even flagged after going through the body scanner.

Admittedly, this may differ with a standard metal detector (will try to go through that on the return trip), but figured I'd share a personal anecdote of wearing a steel cage through security with no issues whatsoever.
