Two weeks ago I was using an old Lenovo Y570 laptop for just about everything regarding computing. I recorded a podcast, edited files, browsed the web and kept things pretty low key. Microsoft kept offering me a free upgrade to Windows 10, so I took the bait and updated my laptop... only to realize that a straight upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 wasn't support on my machine. The upgrade wiped my HDD and OS clean, leaving me with an usable laptop and a sour taste in my mouth.
It was time to look for a new laptop, but all my friends kept telling me to just build a PC and get way more bang for a buck. Taking their advice, I did just that and now it's finally complete :)
I lurked on this subreddit a lot early in my search for advice and knowledge. The entire build seemed really daunting, but with all the advice I gleaned from other posts, I figured I would be okay and dove head-first into the thick of it.
I am super happy with the end result. Whisper quiet, runs MGSV: TPP with everything maxed out (1080p) like a dream and boots to Windows 10 in 10 seconds or so. Huge upgrade from my laptop and definitely worth the investment.
