Build Help/Ready:

Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)

I have!

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

The most resource intensive use I will have for this PC will be gaming. There will also be some school work, browsing, music, etc.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings)

Games I look to be playing include Skyrim, Fallout 4, Witcher 3, Battlefront possibly (if EA doesn't mess it up too much). High to Ultra settings preferred, at as high a framerate I can get. I intend to get a 144 Hz screen. I will use 2 monitors; if I'm gaming on one, the other will have my browser, media player, etc open. Resolution: 1080p

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

I have around $950 to spend. It can be a bit more, but only if truly necessary.

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

'Murica fuck yeah

Provide any additional details you wish below.

The main areas of concern I have are most centered on the motherboard and GPU.

  • The motherboard seems like a good deal, considering there is a microcenter nearby where I live. I do not know enough though to be sure. However, it seems to have the specs I want and good reviews to make me not worry. Someone please indicate otherwise if there is something not ideal about that mobo

  • As for the GPU, I like the r9 390; it seems good for what I want. However, I am open to alternatives. It looks like the GTX 970 is the best alternative. Is there any reason I would pick one over the other? I'm not too worried about the extra power usage.

  • The case is largely a placeholder, though I have nothing against it. I'll probably choose what tickles my fancy most when I head to Microcenter and can see them in person.

  • Feel free to comment on any of the rest of the hardware too!

Thanks for all the help!
