This obviously isn't the 2002 Bucs, but it sure looks like a young template resembling that team.
Defense: Strong safety play (especially in clutch moments) Tandy is embracing his role and making MASSIVE plays to seal wins! Conte has even stepped up and played like an actual pass covering safety.
Lavonte David is the heart and soul of this defense and proving that he is no longer a Pro Bowl snub.
Hargreaves numbers don't show how important he is, but he is a young player poised to lead for the future. Grimes is earning his veteran contract. Not only does he defend the pass well, he's a good hitter for a CB.
Noah Spence and McCoy are providing a nasty 1-2 punch and knocking Super Bowl winning QBs (Hi Drew, Hi Russell) around and holding them to ZERO tds!
We are still running a hybrid-type Tampa 2 that Monte pioneered years ago and it's holding to tradition at Ray Jay Now!
Offense:
Jameis isn't Mr. Fantasy dream, but he's a second year Qb with an ability to lead, use his feet to extend plays and call a great clock-grinding, game-sealing drive.
Evans Speaks for himself, one of the top WRs in the league and a huge possession receiver (Keyshawn-like)
Two solid TEs with great hands and intelligence. Brate is almost guaranteed and Meyers is another big option
Three (THREE!) backs that combine to do it all. Rodgers took the weight when Doug was out and played great. Sims can catch the ball and is great and churning out extra yardage in big spots. Dougie-he just fights for extra yards and does those things you only notice of you know the game or study film.
Special teams: Today showed that Anger is far and a way an elite punter! Two coffin "corners" to pin the Saints on the 1 and 3 (with thanks to expert gunner work on the outside) Aguayo has finally found his niche. Save for a few bad misses, he's helped us win a lot of close games. We cover punts well and the line gets great pushes on field goal attempts.
Coaching: All I have to say is, DK is letting his young (and a few old) players have fun, make plays on their own and call some great drives. I was a little apprehensive saying this because of the way we handled the LA and OAK game, but this is his team now!
RayJay looked packed today and sounded loud! I've been there 60k plus strong, with red and white flags waving (05 Skins Wild card game :/) and I see those fans back in the seats!
NOW LETS GET TO THE PLAYOFFS AND SHOCK THE WORLD!
Wild card teams win the Super Bowl all the time!
FIRE THE CANNONS!!!!
SIEGE THE DAY!!!!
