Finishing up my umpteenth rewatch and think the biggest mistake Hank made (and there were many) was when he got Skyler down to the coffee shop after telling her he had figured out Walt was Heisenberg.
Hank’s supposed to be a veteran DEA agent, skilled in extracting the truth. Hank immediately tore into Walt and kept trying to force a tape recorder in Skyler’s face.
If he had handled that situation better, treated her with empathy, hell, even lied and said he wants Walter to be protected from (insert whatever danger Hank could have made up here) he could have got her to cooperate and that would have been it for Walt – instead of things going to absolute hell like they did.
Between Hank’s missteps and Gomez being wrong about everything, I think those two make up one of the most clueless investigative teams in television history.
He probably didn't like the fact that it was happen right under his nose. He was still in shock and wanted to talk to clear the air. But you do have a point
