COMMENTARIES

  • Welcome to a Raid boss that smells like glorious sewage he literally makes everyone ill just being around him. Must be quite popular wherever he comes from. A gentle reminder to pack some industrial-level cologne, deodorant, or perfume before facing him.

  • First things first, you'll notice "Element Steel" is listed on the top of the list. That's because it's one of the most important to look out for. "Element Steel" is activated every four turns and grants Melord elements and buffs depending on the elements of YOUR party. So, if you bring a complete rainbow team, he gets all the elements and all the buffs. If you bring a mono-element team, he gets only that element and that buff. If you bring a mono-element squad and your allies bring a rainbow squad, great news! Melord only has the buff your squad brings while your allies will have the rainbow buffs active for their fight, so no need to worry about silly allies not preparing for the fight or trying to make the fight unnecessarily more difficult for you! The fact that they may be leechers is still possible, of course.

  • Obviously, the less buffs a boss gets, the better, so a mono-Thunder team is probably the best. He hits hard, but much less harder compared to if he also gets the damage buff (Fire) when your team is afflicted with ailments. Trust me, those two are quite painful together. The element he gets from "Element Steel" does not benefit from elemental weakness bonuses (Melord remains "purely" Water), so don't think an Earth damage buff (via Rhoa, for example) is going to add to damage output.

  • Melord also appears to target the target(s) of "Stink Infection" with "Stink Hazard" the next (few) turn(s). Basically, once a target has been hit with "Stink Infection", he or she may get multiple turns of focus-fired "Stink Hazard". Ideal to get guard/mitigation up and/or use Angel Idols if you're not able to keep up with the damage.

  • Melord is also a little smart. He'll activate "Stink Wall" (damage reflection) the turn you activate your UBB. This will last a couple of turns, so you may only be able to fire the UBB on the third turn. You may want to use a Fujin Tonic to unleash your UBB immediately, but take note of the damage reflection afterwards.

  • Sometimes, he'll activate "Fall Abyss", which may or may not be alongside "Stink Wall" and "Void-sealed World". "Fall Abyss" is literally a counter-Ares debuff, which makes your BB gauge fill much slower than usual from collecting BCs. This is potentially dangerous as you'll be unable to fill your units' BB gauges for important buffs (healing, mitigation, the likes) and he'll have free rein to deal damage to you for a few turns. For that reason, you may want to stagger your units' BBs to prevent being caught off-guard with no BB to help you out. Having units with overlapping important roles in the party work really well here.

  • Other than that, he has an arsenal of wicked attacks that grant various debuffs and ailments to your party. Make sure to pack an effective status and debuff cleanser/negator.

  • Burst healing, gradual healing, BC when attacked, BC fill per turn, status and debuff cleansing/negation, double HP leads, and DEF up buffs are all recommended.

  • Overall can be a pretty tough fight, depending on who you bring.

SAMPLE SQUAD

  • Rhoa (Leader), Rina, Shera, Sargavel, Orna, Paris (Friend)

  • Eldora/Paris (Leader), Shera, Rhoa, Grybe, Sargavel/Kanon, Paris/Eldora (Friend) - courtesy of /u/kaenshin

CHANGELOG

  • Clarified the elemental buffs that Melord gets from "Element Steel". It's a standard elemental attack buff, so there's no increase in elemental weakness damage dealt to Melord.

  • Clarified "Shadow Collapse" to indicate that the ailments are caused by counter-ailment buffs and not from the attack itself.

  • Added information about boss having only your squad's element buffs for him via "Element Steel". Information courtesy of /u/juubz.

NOTE: I know I've been appointed as the new RC6 Boss Guide person, but I haven't gotten around to doing much about it just yet. Not having a working home Internet is a pain. ;~; I'll have something up soonish, please be patient and thank you.
