You guys must be tired of me and my posts these days D:.
Hey all, Colosseum is a new game mode available in BF JP after the 30 Nov update. Here, I'll be providing information about what's known about the game mode so far (mostly from Japanese sources), so if you can provide any additional information, please do so.
STARTING COLOSSEUM MODE
To be able to access the Colosseum, you will need:
Arena Rank 召喚位『大千統』 (Summoner Position "Great Thousand Commander") [Equivalent to "Amateur" Rank in Global] - Reached when you have cumulative ABP of 2,000.
One Colosseum Ticket - Obtained from participating in Arena battles. You will get one ticket when you win, sometimes two to three depending on some factor. If you don't have any Colosseum Ticket, you can purchase them with Gems.
GENERAL INFORMATION
In Colosseum, you will choose seven (7) units from which you will form two (2) parties. The first party you have to make is called the Vanguard Party (先行のパーティ - literal translation is "First Move Party") and is your offensive party that will attack the opponent's Rearguard Party (後攻のパーティ - literal translation is "Post-Attack Party"). Your second party is the Rearguard Party that will defend against the opponent's Vanguard Party.
There will be two battles. In the first battle, your Vanguard Party goes against the enemy's Rearguard Party. In the second battle, your Rearguard Party goes against the opponent's Vanguard Party.
In both battles, the Vanguard Party will always move first.
Prior to battle, you choose a Formation (陣形) for each Party. Formations grant bonuses to units at specific Party position, indicated by a flashing text in the middle of the unit's model in Party view.
Each Formation is advantageous (有利) and disadvantageous (不利) against particular Formation. If your Formation is advantageous to the opponent's Formation, the opponent's Formation effects are negated and the units start the battle with their BB gauges at 0% while your units begin with 50% of their BB gauges filled and your Formation effects active. The converse is also true.
If both you and your opponent have Formations that are neither advantageous nor disadvantageous to each other, both Formation effects are active and both Parties begin with 50% BB gauge filled.
In addition to Formation effects, a random Arena rule may activate.
If you play in the "Convention of Utmost Brilliance" stage, Extra Skill effects are active for both your and your opponent's units in the battle.
At the end of Colosseum battle, you will gain Colosseum Battle Points (CBP) if you win. You can spend CBP on chest items ranging from Spheres to Imbued Tablet Elgifs.
March 17 update: You can spend up to 10x Colosseum Tickets before a match to multiply CBP gained by that amount. For example, if you spend 1x Colosseum Ticket, you can get ~80 CBP. If you spent 10x Colosseum Tickets prior to the match, you will end up earning ~800 CBP.
You can have only a maximum of 99x Colosseum Tickets and 99,999 CBP at any time.
TOURNAMENT STAGES
There are four tournament stages to choose from, depending on your playstyle.
- 極輝召 ("Convention of Utmost Brilliance") - No maximum unit cost (can choose all units)
- 天星召 ("Convention of Heavenly Stars") - Maximum unit cost: 35 (can only choose mostly units up to 6*)
- 幟臣召 ("Convention of the Vassal Flag") - Maximum unit cost: 19 (can only choose mostly units up to 5*)
- 戦塔召 ("Convention of the War Tower") - Maximum unit cost: 14 (can only choose mostly units up to 4*)
CBP awarded is calculated differently in different stages (lower stages appear to award less CBP), but is shared for purchasing chest items.
Rankings is determined separately for each stage.
FORMATIONS
The Vanguard Party can choose from the following Formations:
- パワーストライク ("Power Strike") - All units gain 25% ATK. Advantageous against "Tetra Wall". Disadvantageous against "Kaiser Shield".
- 孤岳天武の陣 ("Solitary Peak of Heaven's War Formation") - Central unit gains 100% HP and ATK. Advantageous against "Firm Shackles of the Five Awns Formation". Disadvantageous against "Tetra Wall".
- レイドヴァンガード ("Raid Vanguard") - Frontal units gain 50% ATK. Advantageous against "Kaiser Shield". Disadvantageous against "Firm Shackles of the Five Awns Formation".
The Rearguard Party can choose from the following Formations:
- 五芒堅鎖の陣 ("Firm Shackles of the Five Awns Formation") - All units gain 25% HP and DEF. Advantageous against "Raid Vanguard". Disadvantageous against "Solitary Peak of Heaven's War Formation".
- カイザーシールド ("Kaiser Shield") - Frontal units gain 50% HP and DEF. Advantageous against "Power Strike". Disadvantageous against "Raid Vanguard".
- テトラウォール ("Tetra Wall") - All units except the central unit gain 50% ATK and DEF. Advantageous against "Solitary Peak of Heaven's War Formation". Disadvantageous against "Power Strike".
A simpler advantage/disadvantage table:
Vanguard Formation | Advantageous against | Disadvantageous against |
---|---|---|
Power Strike | Tetra Wall | Kaiser Shield |
Solitary Peak of Heaven's War | Firm Shackles of the Five Awns Formation | Tetra Wall |
Raid Vanguard | Kaiser Shield | Firm Shackles of the Five Awns Formation |
Rearguard Formation | Advantageous against | Disadvantageous against |
---|---|---|
Firm Shackles of the Five Awns | Raid Vanguard | Solitary Peak of Heaven's War Formation |
Kaiser Shield | Power Strike | Raid Vanguard |
Tetra Wall | Solitary Peak of Heaven's War Formation | Power Strike |
In addition to Vanguard and Rearguard Formations, you can also choose one Auxiliary (補助) Formation for each Party that applies to all your units and does not have advantages or disadvantages.
- ケースアヴォイド ("Case Avoid") - Recover HP every turn and increase resistance to all status ailments
- ブレイブライズ ("Brave Rise") - Increase BB gauge every turn and increase BC fill rate
- カオスリベンジ ("Chaos Revenge") - Apply random status ailment to enemy when attacked
- ブレイドリベンジ ("Blade Revenge") - Chance to deal damage to enemy when attacked
SQUAD BUILDING
For tips on squad building, please refer to this thread and this thread.
SCORE
Criteria for winning/losing a battle are determined by: (1) remaining party HP; (2) damage dealt; and (3) party member alive. Having the upper hand in as many criteria as possible will determine the amount of CBP you receive.
Remaining party HP is shown as percentage on the results screen. If all party members were alive at the end of a battle, each party member's remaining HP contributes up to 100% to the score.
To win in damage dealt, it is best to be able to deal as much damage as possible (AoE) with your Vanguard Party. Damage is considerably reduced when you field your Rearguard Party as the opponent goes first.
Party member alive at the end of battle will add to the score. This (and remaining party HP) will usually determine who the winner is.
SEASON RANKINGS
Like Frontier Hunter, Colosseum participants can get a reward at the end of the seasonal period.
Those who rank highest at the end of the seasonal period get bonus CBP accordingly:
Rank | Bonus CBP |
---|---|
1 | 10,000 |
2 | 7,000 |
3 | 5,000 |
4 to 10 | 4,000 |
11 to 50 | 2,500 |
51 to 100 | 1,500 |
101 to 500 | 800 |
501 to 1,000 | 500 |
1,001 to 5,000 | 300 |
5,001 to 10,000 | 100 |
COLOSSEUM REWARDS
Earned CBP can be exchanged for items from Colosseum chests.
Items in Colosseum chests are predetermined and range from Merit Points to Spheres to Imbued Tablet Elgifs. Your choice simply determines what order you get them.
Once you have chosen a chest, you cannot exchange for items from another chest until you have finished exchanging all items from the chest of your choice.
Once you have exchanged all rewards in all chests, you then move to the next stage of rewards.
Exceeded character limit, so all Colosseum Rewards have been moved to a new location here.
