Hi r/Boston. I have hosted Christmas dinners in my home for 4 years (2016-2019) and since I am unable to do so right now due to the coronavirus, I’d like some ideas of how to keep with the spirit for Christmas 2021!
Hi folks. I’m Chris.
I planned, fundraised for, cooked for, hosted, and cleaned up afterwards for a gourmet Christmas dinner on Christmas Day on Christmas 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Also, this is a different Reddit account than I was using when I made all of the original Christmas dinner posts. For some sort of proof, at the end of this post I have attached a smattering of images from the year’s dinners, including a mishap where a glass casserole dish full of sweet potatoes exploded on my stovetop.
I want the input from the Boston community for what would be a good substitute event for the in-person Christmas dinner. Fundraising in the past has been pretty successful, so I’d love an original idea that could brighten the days of someone who might be lonely on Christmas, might be struggling to afford something for the holiday season, or just wants a little pick me up.
I have thought of just donating to the food bank and doing a fundraiser on Facebook for the food bank, but I think what was so special about the Christmas dinner is that it was personal, intimate, and far from generic.
Open to suggestions but please be nice. I myself am on a low income so I can’t do all of the things I want to do for people without fundraising. (I am not asking for money here!) dinners
