New to the franchise.Loving it so far but how do you get legendary weapons

As far as the story is concerned I’m at the point where I’ve just left Promethea but I’ve only got one epic gun and enemies are getting harder to kill.Is there like a way to get legendary guns or do I just have wait and get lucky while looting?
