How to care for an old book?

Post Body

I have a very old yiddish book from ~1874. It’s in okay condition. I bought it around six months ago online, and I keep it on a shelf that’s not in direct sunlight and I rarely touch it. I’m moving and took it off the shelf to wrap it in something and little bits of paper flew out? Like pieces of corners of the pages that flaked off I guess? Am I storing it badly? I don’t want it to deteriorate any further than it already is. I also have a booklet from Yas Vashem from the 70s that I’d like to keep in good condition. Any advice is appreciated!!
