CT kayak with trolling motor rules?

Hi, I'm an 18 year old who's been kayaking for years, recently my uncle gave me his old trolling motor with hopes that i would at least do something with it.

my plan is to engineer a mount forw my kayak (a Pelican DLX Viper).

only question is, do i need to register it to use it? (would this be an exception to the rule due to me using a hybrid man-machine power)

I live in Connecticut BTW

if i don't register it where can i use it? (ocean, pond, river, etc.)

i should also note that i don't have a PWC license or any license besides that to operate a car.
