Hey all could use some guidance and expertise. I've done a lot of research and reading on here. I'm gonna lay out as much info as I can for you all to help me!
I'm 37. I BMX'd all thru high school and stopped once I went to college. In the past couple years have gotten back into biking and I ride 3-4x a week on a Surly 10-20 miles. I've been getting the itch for a BMX because of 1. nostalgia and 2. the ability to carry a bike wherever I go.
I'm 6'0 tall and weigh maybe 220? I gained like 25lbs after I quit smoking a little over a year ago. But I am the most fit I've ever been between biking and weight lifting. However I am carrying around extra pounds I'm trying to shed.
Mostly I want to just ride around, jump on/over things and have fun. Probably won't do major intense street riding. MAYBE a dirt course one day as there is one in a park near me. But mostly just an older dude trying to be young again without breaking anything.
I rode an Eastern Nightwasp 20" at a local bike shop recently. Obviously BMX geometry has changed a LOT in 20 years. It felt REALLY small, even for a BMX. Like more twitchy than I remember.
SO my question is: Should I get the Fit Series 22 with 22" tires because it'll be a little bigger under me and fine for what I wanna do. Or do I get the Whip XL with the longer top tube and go with the 20" tires. I won't be able to ride either obviously. And I won't ever be so good than I'm gonna need fancy upgrades or be doing tail whips.
Any and all guidance / wisdom / informed opinions would be appreciated.
