Armadillo vs Gatorskin

So I have the giant contend. Iām starting to commute in NYC and my current bike has the stock tires. The tires are worn and Iām looking for durable tires. Anyone would recommend either the armadillo or gator or anything else? Also at my lbs, I saw a nice cannondale with gorg tires and wondering if it was possible to get those type of tires on my bike. I have a 700x25.
