I recently grabbed an Ultegra groupset to upgrade my bike and I’m having issues with the barrel adjusters. This is my first ever group install so I’ve been learning as I go.

From what I can tell the plastic insert is stripped on both front and back and the threaded adjuster screw simply slides in and out with very little pressure. Neither of them seem to loosen or tighten when I thread them either direction. One of the inserts is also cracked which exacerbates the issue.

Wondering if can replace them with something more hardy, the screw and insert are both plastic and seem as if this will just happen again. I’ve seen a handful of aftermarket adjusters but I’ve never had to dig this far into adjusters.
