I recently picked up an essentially mint condition Sakae Ringyo 90's road bike. After taking it into my LBS I was told to NOT ride this bike with a fork as it has the "Death Fork". I was under the impression that the death fork was associated with Viscount and Lambert bikes only so on I rode.
Anyone have any information on this particular frame and its fork? After doing some research it seems people are on the fence about it. One side saying the fork is perfectly fine while the other saying I'd be crazy to ride it. Well, I can be pretty crazy sometimes. I took the bike out for a 30 miles ride already and it feels great. Fork seemed strong, ride was smooth, and frame was quite rigid.
If anyone can provide any further information on this bike that'd be great Last night I spent hours using my cruddy WiFi attempting to do research. If I have anytime today at work I'll do the same. (Also pretty curious about the bikes worth. I saw one recently sold on ebay for $800).
Yes, I realize my post lacks a photo. I plan on adding photos after getting back home. For reference, this is the particular bike I picked up: https://www.google.com/search?q=sakae litage road bike&es_sm=93&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ei=isMdU5H0EKLWyQG-kYCYAQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=899
Thanks in advance!
