I know tapering affects everyone differently, but if you're looking to taper, I've got some advice which is helping me now, big time.
I had been taking doses of 100mg and over of Diazepam per day for a few months, I've been on benzos for 3 years now.
I don't know what happened 2 weeks ago, but my body and mind were like "fuck this shit" and I decided to taper. I sat down and thought how I'd get through withdrawals and I came up with the idea of cutting 5mg every month, with the first 2 weeks having Xanax on board incase of any severe withdrawals (Like sensory overload, oncoming seizure signs etc.)
So far, I've managed a significant drop. Within the first 2 weeks of that aggressive taper, I am now 2 days clean with no Xanax needed. There were some days I needed 5mg Xanax throughout the day just to be OK, but the past 2 days have been pretty chill.
I just thought I'd share my experience with you about my 3rd time trying to taper, which is actually going pretty well :D
