Hey! My bf (26) and I (30) live in the center of Brussels, and every time we've planned to do a trip close to Belgium without a lot of anticipation, accommodation has been extremely expensive and therefore we have never traveled. In that regard, I've figured out that the cheapest, most ecological, and most efficient way to travel is through apartment-swapping, which basically consists in going to another person's apartment while they come to yours at the time. This allows you to avoid spending money on rent, and it makes even more sense if you reach your destination by Flixbus/train, so you also avoid spending money on pricey flight tickets not booked in advance.
In that regard, since I'm not Belgian, I'd like to know which cities close to Brussels/Belgium can be enjoyable for a weekend trip ( from Thursday night to Sunday night), so I can start looking for people living there and propose them to do apartment-swapping. So...what are your favorite destinations close to Brussels/Belgium? What do you usually do over there? Thank you!
PS: Besides Brussels, Antwerp, Gent, Leuven, Liege, Brugge, and Paris , I haven't been to any other city close to Belgium, or within Belgium. Thanks!
