I'd like to learn some words a day, every day, but Duolingo has only Dutch and not Flemish, and I know this is gonna lead to a whooole debate, but after having lived 1 year in Leuven, having a Flemish partner, and having been in the Netherlands as well, I feel like Flemish and Dutch are two completely different languages.
All the expressions, all the basic words, I swear everything is completely different and I cannot learn Flemish through google, because every time I learn a new word or expression in Dutch through google, my boyfriend tells me that no one uses it in Flanders, and all the expressions that I learn with him, are almost never on google or other websites.
Having said this, I wanna learn Flemish, not Dutch, because even though I now live in Brussels, I lived in Leuven for a year and I still feel affection for the city, Flanders, and Flemish people in general, and this will also be a way to connect better with my boyfriend and his family (they're from Kalfort).
What do you think? How can I start? Any app? Youtube video? Book? Something? Ah, and by the way, I'm kinda curious about what my "Flemish accent" would sound like at the end, because I know there are many different accents and dialects (I already know about the "Antwerp accent", "the Limburg accent", etc).
Dankjewel!
