I have wanted to come to Belgium for a while (I'm from the UK). Me and my girlfriend arrived in Brussels on Monday and straight from the off, everyone we met was so genuinely friendly and helpful.
We were a bit tired from the travelling, so we thought we'd pop out for a quick walk to get something from the local shops. We kept expecting the street to end, but before you knew it we were at The Grand Place - OMG that is absolutely stunning!!! Makes Buckingham Palace look cheap. Seriously looks like something out of a fairytale. Then we went to a lovely pub that made me feel like I was in an issue of Asterix!
We then went to the Comic Museum. Absolutely brilliant. What I felt embarrassed about but massively appreciated was that as soon as anyone copped on I was English, they all spoke fluent English to us. Remarkable, we really were so grateful!
Went to the HergΓ© Museum in Louvain-la-Neuve today. As a massive Tintin fan it was incredible to see the original artwork. We then decided to go the opposite way to Bruges. On the way there we got chatting to a local who told us what to look out for, best restaurants etc. When we arrived - wow, what a stunning place! Incredible cathedrals and canals, so beautiful. On the way back a lady helped us get the right bus back to the station and told us where to get off.
We're heading back tomorrow, but we'll definitely be coming back. Lots of other places we'd love to see.
Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome and for all your help, best holiday we've had in a very long time π
