United Award change fees for death of a close friend?
Post Body

My wife and I have an anniversary trip planned in NYC from DEN-EWR for this friday. She is returning Sunday on a seperate ticket while I go upstate for business. Then today we find that a close friend just passed away in Dallas, with the services on Friday.

What are the options to change award bookings close in for a situation like this? If there is a fee will they give us a waiver given the circumstances?

The two outbound tickets were NON-Saver F, separate tickets. Does that translate to full-fare as far as refund ability/flex goes?

We don't have status, but do hold United Chase cards.
