Is AA Platinum worth $1k+?

Currently on an AA Challenge, and I'll be hitting the EQM, but found out a round trip would be way cheaper than I expected. So my expected large expense trip is no more, so I wouldn't naturally reach EQD to keep it next year.

Should I take a more expensive seat or find a way to meet EQDs by Nov. 15th? I've used it recently on a trip from Maui, but I don't know if priority boarding and MCE is worth it. And lounge access is only international and JFK-LAX, so I could just get a card with PP or Amex Plat and have lounges for less.

Thoughts from previous/current Platinums?
