Seven months sober and struggling lmao. To be completely honest, I thought most autistic people were exaggerating how their symptoms/sensory issues/stimming needs affected their daily lives until I got sober and realized how severely I was medicating my own. My main DOC were alcohol/amphetamines but I also smoked a lot of weed. Iām still sober from everything else but ending up starting to smoke weed again bc I just cannot deal with certain sensory issues (the summer heat being the main one) while 100% sober.
I need to have a place to talk about it/hear from others but I typically do not disclose Iām autistic to anyone. (I also donāt usually disclose Iām an addict outside of AA lol.)
I have heard of AA meetings specifically for autistic people but canāt find them. I would ask in the AA sub but I found a post where someone else asked the same thing and ppl gave the ignorant answer of āfind the similarities not the differencesā AA thing but idk yāall, being non-autistic is a pretty massive thing thatās gonna affect the suggestions I would hear.
Basically asking for the zoom info for any online meetings that fit this/if yāall know of any in the NYC area. Ty ty
