Need HELP with autistic student at my university

Post Body

Dear Reddit,

I attend a university in the Maryland area. An autistic student in some of my classes has the kindest and most pure soul in any human I've ever met. He speaks very loudly with everyone and is always visibly nervous with his body language, so most people avoid him purposefully to avoid embarrassment. This includes professors, some of them are absolute dicks toward him, I think they are trying to drive the point that he can not interrupt in class. I am not sure. I could care less what others think of me and I just want to see his pure soul smile, since I know he has no one apart from his parents. So I do not shy away from speaking with him.

The day we became "close" was when he asked me to mediate a conversation for him. We went to the chair of the math dept. and I stood there as he spoke to me, and I relayed his words to the professor. The 3 of us were in the same small room together, the whole thing was weird, but all that mattered to me was that he was comfortable. The teacher denied his request, and so I faced studentX and told him the professor said no (even though studentX could hear everything), so he looked me in the eyes and said "be convincing." So I turned to the professor again and said "studentX really needs this, it will help him a lot." And the math chair said no again, so I told studentX he said no. Since that day, studentX feels very comfortable with me.

A few months ago he came up to me and told me he is poor. I noticed his phone screen is cracked, his computer is a piece of junk, and his clothing is cheap, so I believe him. He asked me to buy him an orchestra music CD for Christmas. I obliged since my heart shattered into a million pieces. I also offered him a new phone (uncle has a phone store so a simple smart phone is free for me) but he profusely denied and said no, and asked if I am mad at him (which he asks a lot, I am not sure why). I always remind him I was never and never will be mad at him, and since the first CD, I purchased 7 for him. He loves classical orchestra music, and recently asked me to buy him 5 more. The problem is I am a college student and as much as I want to help, I do not have the money.

I've already spent $70 by purchasing used cd's and was wondering if anyone is willing to help me purchase the following 5 new ones for him (which he asked me for yesterday):

  1. JS Bach BWV 245 Michel Corboz
  2. 50th Anniversary Kuijken
  3. Handel Messiah the sixteen
  4. herreweghe weihnachtskarten
  5. Bach: Cantatas, Vol. 1 - City of London

studentX is "hiding this from his parents" although recently told me they discovered the cd stash and said nothing. He walks around with a CD player and does not want an mp3 player. So I am not sure how I can assure you that he will receive them, unless you want me to record the exchange in secret so you can hear the joy you provided him.

Please let me know if you would be willing to help in a private message. I can supply the album covers so that the wrong CD's are not purchased. Some of these are not expensive used. I already bought him:

  1. Johannes Sebastiaan Bach Ton Koopman - St Matthew Passion - CD
  2. Durufle: Requiem, Mass-Con Jubilo, Motets / Plasson, von Otter
  3. J. S. Bach: Famous Cantatas: Nos. 140, 56, 51, 147, 4, 202
  4. J.S. Bach Johannes-Passion St. John Passion, Passion Selon St. Jean, BWV 245 La Petite Bande Sigiswald Kuijken
  5. 3 cd’s which I don't remember (I think Garden of Eden, some Bach, and idk the other 1)

Please let me know.

Sincerely,

-Me
