I did a session with a singer for free, I’ve been looking to work more in a different field so I offered a free session to this singer so we can make something and have fun. I learned during the session that the singer had management and etc. the session ended up being 7 hours.
The song came out dope. But the mgmt didn’t like a certain part. The song was recorded at my studio on my computer, I still am the only one with the files. They offered me $20 for gas to drive 1 hour to their studio and do another 6 hour, and obviously, I declined. They now are requesting the files, to me, it seems they’re trying to finish the project without me. They want the whole session to have access to all efx used. I want to charge them for the files now since it’s my work that they’re trying to take over.
Would this be wrong? I don’t feel like it is, if so, how can I come across it? I typically work with locals who pay upfront.
Any advice is appreciated!
