Gabi is the best character in AOT.

Hot take I know, but Gabi has got to be the most well written character in AOT, especially for a tertiary character.

From a psychological perspective, she represents the self-hatred that persecution can cause. Not only does she fight in the Marleyan to prevent her family from being sent off to Paradis (Like Colt for example), but she fights conscientiously, going above and beyond. She’s trying to prove to HERSELF that she’s not the type of Eldian that she’s been taught to hate. She needs to show herself that she’s not a ‘devil’. We see this when she refuses to take off her armband on Paradis, when she absolutely could’ve, and it probably would’ve been more convenient to do so.

Second, we see her go through the same sort of eye-opening experience as Eren. When she sees that the people of the island, she realizes that they’re not the monsters that she was taught they were, they’re just people. Eren goes through this same experience with the titans, so if we applaud his maturing on this perspective, we must applaud Gabi too.

We also can’t forget that she’s just badass. To be, what’s within the world of AOT, an ordinary kid, she’s got an insane tactical mind and has insane talent when it comes to combat. I think if she had ODM training, she’d outperform Mikasa any day if she was a Scout.

Prove me wrong. I’m excited for the debate.
