Does progesterone generally get taken with estrogen and is progesterone significantly more expensive that just taking estrogen?
Post Body

Hey all, I am planning on scheduling an appointment with my endo tomorrow to try getting on progesterone, but before I do I had a few quick questions about pricing. My current financial situation is not amazing, but good enough that I do have some leeway for a more expensive prescription; I was wondering just how expensive I can expect it to be. To give some context, I have been on estradiol and sprio (pills for both) for 18.5 months now. My current perscription is 200 mg spiro and 6 mg estradiol per day and costs about $70 with goodrx and no insurance (i have health insurance but don't use it for trans stuff because it comes from my very bigoted dad). I've been fine on affording it, but I'd rather not break the budget too hard if possible.
That all being said, while I am happy with what E has done for me, I definitely feel a bit underwhelmed and would be remiss to not give progesterone a shot. My provider was hesitant about starting it due to the fact that it seems so inconsistent, but they said 18-24 months was normally a good starting point and that when I hit that point we could revisit it. Now that we have I definitely have a newfound interest in doing so. What should I expect to be dealing with in terms of cost?

TLDR; Want to start progesterone, wondering how much pricier it is than not taking it with goodrx and no insurance.
