Is a smaller abutment ok for an implant?
Post Body

I had an extraction/bone graft/implant done on tooth #19 a month ago on 9/10. After multiple rounds of antibiotics I was still experiencing pain in my gums so my oral surgeon swapped out the abutment from a 7 to a 5 I think he said? He said that should give my gums an easier time with healing but that he might want to switch back to the larger size abutment later on. My concern is, arenโ€™t my gums going to heal around the smaller abutment? How would that work then with swapping it back to a larger one? Is a larger one more ideal to prepare the area for eventual crown? No smoking drinking or related medical conditions.
