Yea, so as the long title states, do I have to return or resign?
Edit - after talking with other dealers, auto sales professionals and a lawyer I was told the sales manager has no leg to stand on in this situation and to ask to speak to a general manager before agreeing to anything. As soon as I said that the sales manager stopped texting me and insisted on calling. I let him know I won’t be taking any more verbal communications and everything moving forward would be in writing. Everything seems like it’s going fine now. Texted the fleet manager about it and he said i’m fine as well.
Last edit - general manager called me today. We had friendly sales banter and then I waited quietly as she asked me a series of boiler plate questions to see if the trade in could somehow be disqualified and nullify the deal. Things like had I tampered with the odometer, was there frame damage or accidents I hadn’t mentioned or lied about. Basic legal bs that I don’t think would give them an actual legal reason to cancel the deal anyways. I didn’t answer. I just said, “your team reviewed the truck before we signed, am I safe from legal troubles about leasing this truck?” She said the truck is mine and not to worry about anything. That she hopes I get it serviced with them and sorry for wasting my time.
