Im in Kansas. I’ve gotten my feet wet in car sales in my market for about 3 years. I’ve been fantasizing about obtaining my auto dealers license for the tax benefits. I had no former mechanical training but I’ve gotten to the point of diagnosing mechanical and some electrical failures, Which in turns helps get the cars for a lower price. With all being said, I really want a dealer license. I got a job as a manager while I kept flipping to learn how to manage while blowing past goals. I’m confident now in teaching and motivating others to do what I need them to do Recently I had the idea of just buying a cheap mobile home and buying the commercial zoned small empty lot as the lot storefront with the office and restroom, zoned commercially, with signage e.t.c. per my county’s requirements. Or being patient and buying a store front that’s already zoned for a cheaper than market price from a failing business owner. Or my 3rd option partnering with a dealer and leasing a piece of their land for my own business. Getting the license itself is already around 8k-12k and I understand my way is pretty extra but I’d like to own all facets of the business especially location. Any ideas before I jump? Any dealers with advice?
