Post Body

Hi all,

I was reminded by a recent post on pulling exercises that I had been searching for this text for a long time in trying to trace the origins of our particularly dynamic approach to asana practice which is quite a departure from traditional Hatha yoga's approach to asana.

A lot can be speculated about KPJ's, Iyengar's and even Krishnamacharya's motives for their systems, same goes for Sivananda. Most trace dynamism to Surya Namaskar/popular exercise, and asana to haṭhayogapradīpikā and co. Roots of Yoga is good, But I want to go further back and explore more instead of just relying on the usual texts. I just want authoritative permission to justify the fact that I like jumping around.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a translation of it. I emailed the official translation project a year or two ago but got no response. Have any of you literary wizards been able to get your hands on it? Or maybe even something similar?
