Can I use a different water inlet valve from the same manufacturer on a fridge?

Post Body
I'm trying to repair a water inlet for a Frigidaire frt24wrad0. It's leaking pretty badly. I've tried new springs and adding silicone between the metal and plastic. No idea if that will work as it is currently drying. But I'm not optimistic. I've seen similar inlet valves on ebay for 15-30 dollar but none for my exact model. The solenoids look the same however. Is it a problem to use a different valve and just adapt the water lines? Or does anyone have other suggestions about this problem? Thanks.
