Someone explain to me HOW it is possible that I can land off a drop, pick up a weapon, have in my character's HANDS...

And then it's completely gone and the enemy next to me who landed two seconds after me is shooting me with it?!

I'm so fucking SICK of this happening. I pick up armor. I put it on. I get the sound. I see the bars over my name .I get the color on the screen.

NOPE.

Teammate now has it on THEIR body.

I could understand if I just don't even pick it up/they beat me to it but I've gone through the animation of it all. The game has registered it - and then it just un-registers it somehow.

Does this happen to anyone else or is this just my personal hell in Apex?
