I have been thinking about this for months now and I just want to see if others agree with my decision. I decided to work at a chain restaurant during a gap year to make some money. The first day was fine, kind of a boring position but it was a multistep process that required some speed so a coworker/manager was assisting me with. On the second day, about an hour in, the head manager pulls her away, leaving me to do the job alone. I got the gist but I was still pretty new and it took me until the end of my shift to get a little over halfway through. So the coworker who was helping me said I needed to stay to finish it. The minutes dragged on because I knew if it took me my first shift to get half done, I’d be here for double the time they told me I would be there for. I decided to start half-assing a bit since it was already two hours after the “end” of my shift, and then the manager came over and said I needed to do more to make up for it. I double half-assed the ones that she requested and practically ran out of there and later communicated the job wasn’t for me. Should I have tried to stay longer or was I justified? (Probably not the most unbiased place to ask but I have been reading this sub for a while now.)
