First time poster in this sub, so my apologies if I've overlooked anything!
I've been out of the sport for SEVERAL years at this point. I kind of started my exit back in 2005 after the Assault Weapons Ban ended. I was 18 at the time, and of age to build an actual AR15, which I did. Most of my money's been going towards actual firearms since then (and a few other incredibly expensive pursuits like motorcycles, flying lessons, etc.).
Recently, I had the itch to pick up a GBB just to squeeze in some practice in the backyard to maintain muscle memory (my schedule and funds don't allow a ton of live-fire practice or match/competition attendance at the moment). So I started to look around some, and many of the legacy brands are quite difficult to find anymore. This includes Western Arms, Tokyo Mauri, and KSC, three of the best GBB makers at the time (with TM ruling the roost on AEGs as well).
I can't seem to find anything in stock for WA, and very, very little in the way of TM and KSC products. I know KSC ran into issues producing the Glock series (which I loved!) due to trademark issues, but I can find precious little on what happened to WA, which saddens me. I had a nice SVI 5" that I used the hell out of and was quite good with, and a Para-Ordnance HRT that I did the same with. And I've always been a huge M9 fan, so I'd love one of those as well, plus a metal slide G18C from KSC again. Am I stuck in the past, with these brands having been surpassed by others? Who would I look to for a high-quality 1911/M9/Glock model that's equivalent to WA or KSC these days? If I were to troll eBay for one, could I still source parts for a WA/KSC, or should I abandon that idea all together and get something more current? I appreciate the help!
