Terrain setup question

So I'm playing in a slow grow league and I know what army my opponent is playing, and im trying to plan something for the game, but I don't know if it's legal.
Can you set up normal terrain right next to each other? Like say all in a line back to back? I know you have to use at least 8 pieces, but are there any rules saying they need to be 3 or 9 inches away from other terrain pieces?
