How do I politely tell my coworkers to leave me alone while I eat.
Post Body

Iā€™m a receptionist, and most of the time I eat at my desk, sometimes Iā€™ll leave for lunch if I didnā€™t pack a lunch. As a receptionist of course I am the only one without a private desk and door, and being the common area for workers to walk by and feel like they need to act knowledge me. Some people know I do not like to be bothered while I eat, and I definitely donā€™t like to eat infront of people (insecurity of like) but those people and everyone else will still talk to me, and not for a quick small talk, they are having full conversations with me and I will pause my lunch to reply to them. I just paused my lunch for an HOUR to be polite. I donā€™t want to sound like a bitch but like leave me the fuck alone i feel like itā€™s common curiosity lol how to say that politely in a work setting??

Iā€™m a receptionist with the same issue! I put up a sign in a standing plastic holder that says ā€œOn Lunchā€ and when people come by to chat, I simply keep chewing, smile, and point to the sign. They caught on pretty quickly.
