This is likely one for r/AskFeminists as well, but I’d like to run it by you ladies.
Over the last several years, I’ve noticed a phrase being used by men to negatively describe women: “all over the place.”
Big example: I’m not a huge Taylor Swift fan, but I love watching her career and noting how people respond to her as a hugely successful, self-determining woman. Just read a review saying her current album is “all over the place” — while simultaneously chiding her for only writing about her love relationships, that she needs to expand her song topic repertoire. (??)
I have my own take on this term, which I’d been formulating in my head. And now the term was used on me in a dating situation. What do you think is behind men using this term about women?
