Prep: Cold water face rinse
Razor: Ever-Ready Streamline SE
Blade: GEM PTFE (1)
Brush: Semogue Brush-Butt LE
Post: Chatillon Lux Catalans Prairie After shave
The sample of Lycanthropy was given to me by /u/Phteven_j when he was asking for testers on the weekend deals thread.
The Razor, Brush, and After shave were all purchased by me.
The soap base is a vegan base. It consists of a very simple ingredient list: Water, Stearic acid, Shea Butter, Coconut oil, castor oil, potassium hydroxide, kaolin clay, silk (non-animal), fragrance.
The scent notes are: Fir tree, lilac, musk, mildew, moss, Egyptian jasmine, palo santo, white sage, and ozone.
This is a very green, clean, and floral scent. This scent is mainly dominated by the jasmine, but rounded out by the green scent of moss and mildew, a hint of spice from the very familiar (to me) Palo Santo, and a sharp hit of musk and ozone, giving this scent a "clean" smell.
Scent Score 8/10. It's great! I really enjoyed it.
Performance: Performance is pretty average, and I don't mean this in a bad way. But to me there is nothing special that sets this apart from any of the other vegan offerings currently on the market. Lathering was easy. This soap isn't very thirsty, and it's easy to dial in, but it can also be easy to add to much water. This soap hit all the marks (for me) for ease of lather, slickness, glide, and protection. This soap is also very easy to rinse off the face. Residual slickness, and post shave feel were qualities I felt were lacking. Overall I'd say the soap base is good, but it's about average.
Performance Score: 6/10.
Closing thoughts:
Would I recommend this soap? Absolutely, yes. In terms of price and performance you get exactly what you paid for. In terms of similar scent profiles I recommend Chatillon Lux Catalans Prairie. If you love floral scents (like me) this ones for you.
I can see this as a spring time scent, but i can see myself wearing it year round.
I'd classify it as a unisex scent, not exactly masculine, but not overly feminine either. I can see my self wearing it, and I wouldn't find it offensive on my S/O either.
I hope you all enjoyed the review :)
