While there are of course many aspects of Wet-Shaving that I love, I think I recently discovered why I feel such an attraction to it, as if there were a magnetic pull.

You see, although I am only 19 years old, for many years I have had this odd obsession with the perfection of the self through discovering absolutely everything about my self and knowing my self down to my deepest and darkest depths, which was perhaps influenced by reading Buddhist texts at a young age. I love Wet-Shaving because there is simply so much to try and experiment among all the different types of razors, soaps, creams, hones, and makers of such, which makes it exciting and leads to the buying of everything you see (don't get me started on that). Additionally, the whole aspect of it being very meditative and a very personal activity has moved me from the get-go. However, I've come to realize that my love for it is a little deeper.

Through experimenting with different razors, soaps and brushes I have come to learn myself better. I now have a better understanding of how my body and skin reacts to different products, as well as a better knowledge of myself and my skill in a hobby of which I had virtually no knowledge of prior to 12 months ago. There's something very magical in watching yourself grow in such a way and seeing how your skills develop, pushing yourself to learn more and experiment with different things, such as moving to a straight, trying different shaving techniques and even going on to learn how to hone.

Though you may learn much about Wet-Shaving, you are able to learn much more vastly and deeply about yourself through this new (or old) hobby. Take advantage of that, my friends. Do not only observe and partake in this hobby, but be one with it. Learn from every weeper, nick, and BBS shave that you experience. Listen to every blade, after-shave, brush, and razor you experiment with. In doing so, Wet-Shaving will give back to you in inexplicable ways.
